Join Optum Care Engineering as a Full Stack Software Engineer. You will build API packages and enable it for consumer consumption via GraphQL endpoints, perform Member Mastering on all market datasets and generate Member SBR using open-source, and cloud-native technologies.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative technical solutions that are aligned with architectural guiding principles and standards through a regular cadence of delivery and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop/Engineer event driven software capabilities utilizing Kafka, event driven microservices and distributed data platform
  • Works closely with other engineers and architects to drive and develop solutions
  • Participate in technology modernization activities with architects and engineering teams including a shift to modular, data centric, open-source, and cloud-native technologies
  • Validate assumption, pro-actively identify patterns in issues and research root-cause to improve overall quality
  • Apply the Agile and CI-CD practices, take ownership of some processes or practices for team
  • Embrace continuous learning of engineering practices to ensure industry best practices and technology adoption, including DevOps, Cloud and Agile thinking
  • Actively follow industry trends in technology, tools, and components, share finds with team members and provide a continuous growth-oriented mindset

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience developing in modern full stack applications using open-source languages including Golang, Java, SpringBoot, data technologies including Databricks, Snowflake, Cosmos DB, Elastic Search, T-SQL and NoSQL
  • 3+ years of experience working with an Agile development methodology
  • 2+ years of related IT experience as a developer, engineer, architect, or similar role
  • 2+ years of experience on container orchestration using Kubernetes and Kafka event streaming
  • 1+ years of experience designing cloud-enabled solutions in Azure or AWS or GCP
  • Experience with IT operational automation and configuration management tools and practices, processes, and tools (Jenkin, Git, CICD, JPAC, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior engineers


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in software engineering, computer science or related field
  • Healthcare experience
