GitLab's DevOps platform empowers 100,000+ organizations to deliver software faster and more efficiently. We are one of the world’s largest all-remote companies with 1,400+ team members and values that guide a culture where people embrace the belief that everyone can contribute.

GitLab is looking to fill their Frontend Engineer position within the Manage:Auth team. In this role you'll be working on critical, foundational parts of the application, responsible for handling the authentication and authorization of secure, but accessible resources.

About the Auth group

The Auth group is focused on building and supporting all use-cases related to authenticating and authorizing users and groups and providing them with access to important  resources. With such essential workflows and capabilities, it’s vital we provide a great user experience so we provide users with the tools they need to stay secure and scalable.

What we do is important for groups of any size, but especially so for large enterprises or companies operating in regulated environments. Things such as on-/offboarding employees should be automatable, and sensitive information should not be accessed by unauthorized users.

In the Manage:Auth part of GitLab, there’s a great opportunity for bringing our existing workflows to the modern state of frontend engineering. Cascading settings, refining UX workflows for multi-factor authentication, and access restriction, are some of the latest initiatives we’ve pursued to make our product even more lovable by providing smooth and performant solutions.

The following links will provide a glimpse into some of the work in this position:

  • Create a download for the Secret when creating an application in Admin / Applications
  • Settings Management for Workspace, Group and Project Levels
  • Improve UX to emphasize importance of recovery codes
  • Convert "Group" -> "Members" list view from HAML to Vue
  • Restrict access to group by IP address

More information about the Frontend Engineer role and our hiring process can be found here.

The Auth group is a part of the Manage stage; more information on how the Manage stage operates can be found here.
