About the Position

Rev is looking for a Front End Lead to join our rapidly growing, late stage startup. You can expect to make an impact from day one, owning the frontend infrastructure relied on by our engineers and contributing to our web apps which are used by hundreds of thousands of people daily. You will work alongside senior engineering leadership and will collaborate across the engineering organization to help shape the future of our web application infrastructure.

Rev engineers are expected to become experts on the problems facing our workers and customers, shape the future of our product, and produce highly scalable and maintainable code. At Rev, you won’t only help us execute on our current businesses, but you will play an integral role in impacting the direction of the remote labor market on a global scale.

 Responsibilities

Lead a small technical team that will:

  • Own and improve Rev’s front end build and front end CI/CD infrastructure
  • Collaborate with design, product, and engineering stakeholders to create and maintain a world-class themeable React component library
  • Write and maintain high-quality documentation
  • Design and implement systems, patterns, and practices to enable engineers to ship frontend code faster
  • Optimize delivery of code and assets to browsers and devices

Qualifications

  • Experience in a senior/leadership role where you are guiding technical decisions for products at scale
  • Expertise with modern frontend build pipelines and tools such as Webpack, PostCSS, and NPM
  • Demonstrable experience designing APIs for libraries
  • Expertise with React + Typescript
  • Proficient with popular react state management frameworks (Redux, hooks, MobX)
  • Experience using modern CSS (flex, grid, tachyons)
  • Experience driving software projects, including design, implementation, and deployment
  • Proficient in a broad range of software design approaches and common UX patterns. Knows when (and when not) to use front end software design patterns (e.g., asynchronicity, data binding, modules, objects, promises)
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Able to dive into the source code of front end libraries to debug, patch, and extend them when necessary
  • Understanding of how to optimize and design complex asset compilation pipelines
  • Can articulate the risks and benefits of various front end libraries, frameworks, and toolsets
  • Believes in the value of unit testing and writes tests instinctively
  • Excellent proactive communication skills to work with engineers in Austin, San Francisco and across the country
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a company that is rapidly growing
