The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Mission Systems team. This role will provide systems engineering, systems integration, project management, system test, and mission assurance expertise to ensure the successful transitioning of ground capabilities from development to operations. He/She will be responsible for analyzing and providing independent assessment of requirements compliance and system performance through participation in a variety of working group meetings, planning sessions, testing and verification events, technical management activities, and supporting engineering efforts for the successful lifecycle management of operational space programs.
What you will be doing
- Provide ground development and systems engineering technical support for the development, integration, testing, and transitioning of the space assets to the FORGE ground system
- Provide technical and analytical support to government customers in enterprise portfolio planning and risk analysis and technical performance evaluation
- Apply disciplined system architecting and engineering methods, processes, and tools in a broad range of architecture-level assessments, modeling, analysis, and conceptualization activities
- Provide independent assessments of ground development activities, agile development processes, milestone readiness assessments, and requirements management and compliance
- Participate in Readiness Reviews, Design Reviews, Launch Dependency Reviews, Tests events (at various levels) and other ground development activities supporting milestone events as required
- Provide systems engineering and integration and test subject matter expertise for the planning, the development, the integration, and the verification of future ground systems
- Improve customer support by identifying new capabilities or processes to enhance development of ground system capabilities
- Interact with all levels of Corporate, customer, and contractor personnel
- Represent the ground system and organizational equities at technical meetings, reviews, and technical interchange meetings and presentations
What you need to be successful
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a supporting technical science or engineering discipline
- 8 or more years of relevant technical and leadership experience in ground system development, operations and/or software-based systems development and testing
- Demonstrated experience working independently and effectively with the government customers, contractors, other government organizations supporting both the customer and/or supplier, and other Aerospace team members
- Track record of coordinating projects between different organization entities and with multi-discipline teams
- Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule including occasional weekends and overtime
- Willing to travel domestically
- Experience performing integrated/enterprise system software requirements development, test, and verification
- Familiarity with space, intelligence, and/or defense domains
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

- A Masters or Ph.D. in Aerospace or Systems Engineering from an accredited university
- Demonstrated experience in space, intelligence, and/or defense domains
- Active DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance
