Flight Control System Design EngineerCompany:The Boeing CompanyJob ID:00000275029Date Posted:2021-12-06-08:00Location:USA - Long Beach, CAJob Description Qualifications: Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Experienced Flight Control System Design Engineer to join the team in Long Beach, CA. The selected candidate will work with a variety of complex and challenging systems. This includes working with the team to analyze autoflight system functional anomalies and coordinate design changes as required to in-service commercial aircraft. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work autoflight system design and integration in commercial variants used in military applications and in new design concepts being developed in the Long Beach Design Center.Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct lab and flight test integration and performance testing of autoflight system design modifications to in-service, Out of Production (OoP) commercial aircraft
  • Support Customer Engineering by conducting functional analysis of autoflight system anomalies on all heritage MDC and 7-series commercial aircraft in service
  • Support the Continued Operation and Safety Program (COSP) analyses of autoflight systems on heritage MDC and 7 series commercial aircraft.
  • Possibly work autoflight system integration and certification on the E-3F AWACS French Cockpit Upgrade program
  • Possibly develop architectures to integrate flight controls and related subsystems on Transonic Truss Braced Wing (TTBW) Concept
  • Support and coordinate with Puget Sound counterparts for In Production aircraft autoflight system functional anomalies
  • Other responsibilities include: Analysis and translation of requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications; test and validation to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements; and identification of opportunities to improve the system performance and maintenance.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location option.Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, electrical/electronics, aerospace, computer science, mathematics, physics

Preferred Qualification (Desired Skills / Experience):

  • Knowledge and familiarity in flight control system development
  • Experience using MATLAB and Simulink
  • Experience independently performing engineering design tasks within a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge and familiarity in hardware environment, computer architectures and software development
  • Experience in Requirements management
  • Experience in complex system development, integration and test
  • Experience in computer programming using C
  • Experience in Software test
  • Professional experience leading other engineers in a team environment
  • Analytical Skills: skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; and develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources

Typical Education / Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
