POSITION OVERVIEW

dormakaba is seeking a Firmware Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Lexington, KY. This position will design, implement, and debug firmware for real-time embedded microcontrollers while simultaneously meeting schedule and quality objectives. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Firmware Development, Safe Locks. This individual will work closely with Engineers in Development; both in Lexington and other locations

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Responsible for design, development, and test of embedded firmware code as well as providing support for manufacturing processes,
  • Problem solving and debugging firmware related issues in a time efficient manner,
  • Evaluate and propose alternatives for microcontroller/microprocessor and related components
  • Documents various aspects regarding firmware/software design, testing, etc.
  • Participates in hardware and embedded software designs and reviews
  • Supports and collaborates with Software Q/A, Systems, Electrical, and Cloud Engineers

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical\Computer Engineering or equivalent experience,
  • 3-5 years' experience desired, but will consider entry level.
  • Excellent knowledge of firmware design, code, and test,
  • Experience with programming and configuring microcontrollers and low power management
  • Knowledge of C and other programming languages. Experience with GCC and IAR embedded development environments desired.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded real-time operating systems, (OS, drivers, etc.)
  • Software test planning and execution - use of test scripts, emulators, etc
  • Knowledge of USB, serial, and computer interface protocols including I2C, SPI, and understanding of network communication theory, wireless network theory, and network communications protocols.
  • Able to read and understand detailed electronic schematics,
  • Knowledge of using electronic measurement devices such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English. Occasional technical report writing expected.
  • A plus to have experience in Android or iOS application platforms
  • A plus to have experience with embedded Linux.
  • A plus to have experience with manufacturing tester programming and support
  • Strong adaptability, capable of multi-tasking among several projects and tasks
  • Solid team player, good interpersonal skills, and demonstrated leadership. Strong customer focus
