We are currently hiring a Failure Analysis Engineer I for our Product Analysis Laboratory at our Tempe, Arizona location.
This position will support the Medtronic mission for unsurpassed quality and reliability in our medical devices by providing technical support to root cause analysis of problems encountered throughout the product lifecycle.

A Day in the Life
In this position you will be responsible for performing chemical and materials analysis of electronic components and medical devices, developing analysis techniques, and supporting analysis tools in a laboratory setting. You will have hands on responsibilities on multiple analytical tools and you will collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:• Perform chemical failure analysis of electronic components and medical devices.• Experience with the following analytical instruments and techniques: FTIR, Raman, XPS, TGA, DSC, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, chemical de-processing.• Write technical reports that will clearly and accurately convey analytical results and conclusions.• Maintain documentation and training for assigned analytical equipment.• Develop new analytical techniques.• Interface with a variety of customers.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree required with 0+ years of experience
Nice to Have• Degree in Engineering, Science or other Technical field. • Experience with mechanical and ion-beam cross-sectioning, x-ray imaging, scanning acoustic microscopy, laser and/or optical profilometry.• Broad knowledge of analytical tools and techniques to interpret data collected from outside laboratories.• Experience working in a highly regulated environment.• Strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
