Responsibilities
    • Design, develop and maintain large-scale, service-oriented architectures to quickly analyze terabytes of patient data
    • Develop and maintain APIs and analytic modules within an existing Python-based data processing framework
    • Liaise with Business Analysts and/or internal / external customers to ensure that requirements are understood
    • Produce accurate, unambiguous technical design specifications to the required level of detail in the timescales as defined by the PM
    • Prepare and execute unit test plans
    • Produce efficient and fully documented code
    • Develop supporting technical and installation documentation for internal and external publication
    • Achieve productivity targets in order to ensure developments are delivered within budget, to schedule and to defined quality standards
    • Complete all necessary software and non-software components in the timelines as defined by the PM
    • Manage work tasks with minimal supervision
    • Quality and adherence to Standards
    • Develop Tech Specs, Code and/or Unit Test Plans in line with the Traceability Matrix/Functional Specification.
    • Ensure all work is reviewed to ensure adherence to the relevant development standards
    • Complete peer work and code reviews
    • Provide timely and accurate reporting of project status as required by PM
    • Determine accurate and detailed development work estimates
    • Escalate product issues in a timely fashion and suggest product improvements
    • Mentor team members in best practices and standards


Qualifications
  • Academic and Professional Qualifications:
    • S. in Computer Science, EE, or similar technical discipline
    • Excellent programming skills in Python, Java, C#, C++, or similar language
    • Background in math, statistics, public health or epidemiology preferred
    • Excellent application documentation skills
    • Excellent communication skills


  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
    • At least 1 year working as a software developer on large distributed systems and client server architectures.
    • 3+ years Python development using frameworks like Flask, Django, Jinja, SQLAlchemy
    • Prefer experience with asynchronous processing and messaging using Celery and messaging queue such as RabbitMQ
    • Experience building and deploying applications using Amazon Web Services or similar cloud infrastructure.
    • Software development in life sciences / pharmaceutical industry preferred.
    • Validated software development in a regulated environment preferred.
    • Development/testing of RESTful APIs.
    • Experience with Apache HTTP, NGINX, Tomcat, or Jetty.
    • SQL database experience (Redshift, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).
    • Experience with standard build tools and version control systems (e.g., Git, Jenkins).
    • Broad understanding of internet protocols and network programming.
    • Experience working in a Linux environment.
    • Experience with containers and building container images.
    • Adept at researching application errors and using debugging tools.
    • Desire experience integrating and configuring Elasticsearch.
