Experienced Advanced Concepts Engineer, Commercial AircraftCompany:The Boeing CompanyJob ID:00000288390Date Posted:2021-11-29-08:00Location:USA - Long Beach, CAJob Description Qualifications: The Boeing Company is looking for an Experienced Advanced Concepts Engineer, Commercial Aircraft to support BCA in Long Beach, California.The role participates in planning and performing synthesis of conceptual/preliminary aerospace/aeronautical vehicles. Supports vehicle configuration designs from customer requirements. Performs trade studies for performance, structural adequacy, cost effectiveness and regulatory requirements. Successful candidate should have basic knowledge in the areas of: Aircraft design knowledge, Aircraft performance, Systems thinking, Model development.This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads the synthesis of conceptual/preliminary aerospace/aeronautical vehicles.
  • Leads vehicle configuration designs from customer requirements.
  • Evaluates designs and performs trade studies for performance, structural adequacy, cost effectiveness, and regulatory requirements.
  • Trains others. Works under general direction.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

  • Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Working knowledge of aircraft design
  • Working knowledge of aircraft performance
  • Ability to convey engineering design information in graphical format (3-D Model or engineering drawing)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in the conceptual design and analysis of commercial aircraft, including the application of new technologies or configurations
  • Experience performing multidisciplinary analysis and optimization
  • Experience performing aircraft level trade studies
  • Experience sizing aircraft to mission requirements, including model development
  • Proficient using CATIA for 3-D modeling and drawings

Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience).
