What you will do
Under general direction, supports the Industrial Sales Engineer by managing all post sale activities on complex industrial petrochemical process chiller projects. Activities include equipment project execution that is profitable, accurate, on-time, within the scope of the contract and in alignment with customer expectations. Develops and provides detailed engineering information and submittals to communicate design, configuration, operating and installation requirements to petrochemical customers, consultants, Johnson Controls service and necessary subcontractors. Works with the Industrial Sales Engineer to maintain an effective balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results when performing post sale duties.

How you will do it
  • Manages project Profit and Loss (P&L) and customer satisfaction for all projects assigned. Accomplishes this following consistent and repeatable project management practices utilizing the Johnson Controls industrial equipment order execution process, including; execution of the equipment orders, startup and final payment.
  • Works closely with branch administration to manage backlog execution, schedule and forecast execution of equipment projects up to two years in advance.
  • Actively manages project turnover process between equipment sales and equipment order execution. Reviews risks and works with the project team to execute action plans.
  • Orders and tracks the delivery of material and equipment for assigned project.
  • Reviews the accuracy of custom motor orders placed by the factory.
  • Works in conjunction with the JCI Contract Engineering department and the customer to submit custom submittal documentation.
  • Coordinates with logistics to meet factory and project schedule requirements and reviews the equipment order status reports as needed, identifying any critical delivery requirements.
  • Coordinates customer inspections between the JCI factory and the customer to ensure the customer is made aware of inspection dates well ahead of time.
  • Acts as liaison between the factory teams and Houston Branch; and the Houston Branch and the customer.
  • Coordinates project schedule with the customer.
  • Coordinates the factory equipment order process to ensure technical and commercial compliance with contract documents and site coordination requirements.
  • Coordinates shipping processes to meet factory and project schedule requirements and reviews the equipment order status reports as needed, identifying any critical delivery requirements. Coordinates equipment delivery requirements with the Customer.
  • Effectively communicates project progress, issues and financial status to management as required.
  • Coordinates post shipment services that include but are not limited to; coordination of resolution of shipping damage issues, inspections during the storage period and start-up supervision.
  • As required, visits customer sites to ensure delivery and receipt of critical equipment is in compliance with the expectations of Johnson Controls, the customer and the owner.
  • Ensures project documentation is compliant with contract requirements, Johnson Controls standards and the formal Johnson Controls equipment order execution process.
  • Periodically answers engineered equipment application questions from customers.
  • Work through equipment technical issues with JCI Engineering and customer as required for a successful project.
  • Develop and maintain viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants and subcontractors. Attends job progress meetings as required.
  • Coordinates customer-training requirements with local Johnson Controls service.
  • Coordinates between the Houston Branch and Customer to assure Johnson Controls receives payment in full upon completion of the project.
  • Improve the Industrial Project Management checklist with lessons learned from every project.


What we look for
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Computer skills experience to include: Microsoft Office suite, (with emphasis on Word, Excel and Visio) Adobe Writer, and basic Windows operating system environment. AutoCad experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage a large number of complex industrial projects with professionalism, cooperation, and persistence.
