Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking an Entry Level Airplane Performance Engineer to join our team in Seal Beach, CA. The selected successful candidate will work on Performance Data: Develop airplane performance data to be published in the Boeing Flight Crew Operations Manual, Flight Planning and Performance Manual, and iPad Quick Reference Handbook application. Perform takeoff, landing, and enroute performance analysis in PC and UNIX environments
Position Responsibilities:

  • Post-process raw performance data to meet document data coverage and format requirements by utilizing custom Python, FORTRAN, MS Excel, Visual Basic, MATLAB, and Perl based post-processing tools
  • Incorporate performance data directly in the FCOM and FPPM publication systems, which are Adobe FRAMEMAKER and XML based
  • Develop, code, and test enhancements to post-processing tools
  • Assess proposed changes to aircraft certification that could impact aircraft performance
  • Respond to Customer inquiries on all Boeing Commercial Airplane models
  • Continually champion improvements to technologies, tools and processes to enhance technological readiness, to improve aircraft performance, and to reduce cycle time and cost
  • Assess proposed regulations and engineering changes to determine impact on cost, performance, producibility, maintainability, and safety
  • Assist in training others in work processes and work products


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering related field


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering with major in Aerospace and/or Mechanical Engineering


Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
