Job Description:

Overview

The Solutions Architect - Enterprise serves in the Firm Information Technology (FIT) Enterprise Architecture team to help lead enterprise architectural strategies focused on both improving and modernizing business delivery, strategic planning, technology governance and digital transformation at Crowe.

Responsibilities

In this role, the Solutions Architect works closely with key leaders to understand our business strategy and capabilities and translate strategy into technology solutions. The ideal candidate can deliver robust architectures that scale but enable flexibility and transformation that enables growth across a global workforce. This requires a deep technical background rooted in enterprise technology as well as strong communication skills with an executive presence enabling this position to influence across organizational boundaries and actively participate in strategic planning, governance, technical design, and technology decision making.

This position reports to the head of Firm IT Enterprise Architecture but will work closely and collaborate with the heads of Product Engineering, Digital Transformation and other key technology leaders and areas in Crowe.

  • Help drive the direction of Crowe's technology architecture
  • Operate and enhance the architecture & technology governance processes
  • Develop and analyze technology strategy and roadmaps
  • Drive adoption of modern software, data and architecture approaches
  • Promote and ensure technical and risk management best practices in a highly regulated environment
  • Facilitate architectural decisions, technical design, governance, and standards during the planning cycles of technology efforts
  • Creates clear and meaningful artifacts to capture and communicate the technical make up of products and enterprise solutions
  • Support cross-organization technology teams involving multiple business units
  • Collaborate with the IT Leadership Team, Product Engineering, and other key stakeholders across our business to develop and drive an enterprise architecture vision & strategy
  • Works with product owners and business leaders to understand business strategy and aligns technology strategy, standards, patterns, and practices
  • Define and communicate Crowe's strategic platforms and target architectures
  • Help facilitate architecture review boards and the enterprise architecture & technology governance process (buy vs. build vs. no/low code and custom)
  • Owns technology roadmaps and blueprints for technical approaches by working with Product Owners to understand direction and feature needs and translates into practical roadmap; works with Cloud Delivery, Data Management & Governance and other Crowe teams to understand re-use opportunities and limitations and drive alignment to reference architectures
  • Collaboratively define technology standards and establish efficient mechanisms (automated where possible) to drive compliance to firm and regulatory standards and reference architectures
  • Proactively research technical improvement and justify the value over time
  • Perform architecture assessments of technology assets
  • Identify, productize and publish APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) and enterprise integration frameworks for use and adoption across Crowe technology teams
  • Publish and communicate standards and technology evaluations and package selection
  • Collaborate with peer technology and architecture leaders in Firm IT, Product Engineering and business unit technology teams to align roadmaps where appropriate, share best practices, and evolve the state of the art
  • Educate, mentor and coach architects and technologists across the firm
  • Maintains good working relationships across levels of multiple teams
  • Provides technical guidance and coaching to ensure understanding of technologies and approach and improve quality.

In addition, this person will participate in Firm IT activities which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Report to and collaborate with the heads of Firm IT Architecture, Product Engineering and Digital Transformation on activities, priorities, and initiatives
  • Participate in project prioritization and portfolio management
  • Define and promote architecture best practices
  • Promote security and regulatory compliance
  • Coach/mentor others where applicable
  • Solicit and provide feedback as needed to develop skills and identify areas of opportunity
  • Build and maintain architecture, design and standards templates
  • Build and maintain architecture curriculum
  • Participate in architecture/road mapping growth activities and team meetings
  • Educate business and technology groups about firm architectures and its capabilities
  • Verify that enterprise architecture is continually meeting client expectations
  • Participate in or manage special projects/assignments as requested, e.g., special committees or temporary work teams, BU/DU events, etc.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a highly regulated environment preferred
  • Excellent understanding of design patterns and architectural styles
  • Experience providing deliverables across architecture domains (application and solution, ops, data, and security)
  • Knowledgeable in the application of strategic frameworks and analysis, research, and program management disciplines to solve challenging business problems
  • Certifications in architecture, solution processes and/or technical certifications highly desired.
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to articulate facts and ideas clearly and concisely
  • Analytical thinking for effective problem determination, remediation and correction is essential
  • Skilled at aligning technology capabilities to business solutions
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Agile processes
  • The ability to work independently, make decisions under pressure, while providing timely and responsive services are keys to this position
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with ability to lead through influence across cultural differences and drive change at an enterprise level
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and negotiation skills with technical and non-technical groups with a demonstrated ability to build consensus among many stakeholders at any level within the organization
  • Strong client service orientation with ability to bring a business-focused perspective to all situations
  • Experience working in a global context, across multiple time zones, in a matrixed environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Systems or engineering fields, or equivalent experience
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years as an Enterprise Solutions Architect or a similar role required
  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise integration patterns, cloud architecture, and analytics experience is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in relationship management - must demonstrate customer focus, highly effective communication skills (written and verbal), a win-win approach to meeting business requirements, experience working with C-suite stakeholder, and resolving conflicts
  • 5+ years of experience demonstrating ability to build quick and effective work rapport with others and strong teambuilding skills. Needs to be able to facilitate groups to achieve required objectives and goals
  • Travel may be required to perform job duties
  • As required, work after-hours and during maintenance periods based upon project requirements.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $128,880 to $219,120.
