Eaton Research Labs (ERL) is currently seeking an Engineer Specialist for our Corporate Technology team in Southfield, MI. Relocation provided.

Lead the development of technology roadmaps for specific applications that are linked to and supportive of the overall ERL and business strategies. The person will be required to develop novel technology areas and translate into applications, coordinates from concept to implementation stage, managing deliverables executed by multi-disciplinary teams and serves as an expert resource for other engineers. Work with the business units and internal teams to Identify opportunities or connections that enhance business performance. Be responsible for skill development and routinely mentor others in technical specialty. Identify open innovation opportunities with universities and external institutes that align with Technology Platform strategy. Maintaining a internal and external network and promote technology as a thought leader. Actively contributes to high quality intellectual property that has business and technology importance.

The person will be responsible for the cold spray process projects and technology area which includes: develop cold spray and direct energy deposition processes for various materials, substrates, and applications, support the efforts in quality certification for parts and processes manage technical aspects projects to ensure objectives are being met, work alongside internal and external partner teams to deliver solutions, presenting to internal and external stakeholders, work with different BUs and develop new proposals after understanding their requirements.

In this role you will:

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Master's degree from an accredited institution
• 2+ years' additive manufacturing experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience
• PhD from an accredited institution
• Government project experience
• Hands on experience in cold spray and/or direct energy deposition
• Experience in aerospace part qualification

Position Criteria

• Technology Knowledge - Cold spray additive manufacturing, metal binder jetting, laser powder bed fusion, modeling and simulation, design for additive manufacturing, process qualification, aerospace part qualification process, and working knowledge of aerospace quality systems
• Demonstrated ability to building relationships of people with diverse backgrounds
• Influence without authority
• Ability to drive toward accomplishing big goals, and put together strategic plans
