Job Purpose:
This Engineering Specialist role is within the growing space of advanced battery electrical systems and BMS. Incumbent will be responsible for investigating, evaluating, and characterizing next generation battery electrical components and systems for a range of Caterpillar products, including hybrid and full battery architectures.
Job Duties:
- Lead the investigation and evaluation of advanced electrical components and architectures for battery systems
- Provide feasibility assessment of new technologies/products utilizing the New Technology Introduction (NTI) process
- Communicate project progress through TRL and peer reviews on a regular basis
- Collaborate with various teams to align on future electrical/electronic needs
- Contribute technical work directly and coordinate the work of other resources (internal and external) to meet project objectives
- Develop project proposals and estimate / manage project budgets
- Stay abreast of battery system industry product and architecture trends
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Excellent analytical skills and understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications.
- Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
- Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with peers and others in the work group, as well in other units, customers, and suppliers
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Experience in Battery Systems and/or Battery Management Systems hardware
- Experience in electronic component selection and integration
- Experience in flexible and/or rigid printed circuit board schematic and layout
- Experience in the development process for new components
- Experience with other electric drivetrain components such as motors, power electronics, etc.
- Knowledge of drivetrain systems for a range of architectures (hybrid, BEV, etc.)
- Master's degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum

- This position is located in Mossville, IL.
- Up to 10% Travel.
