Hobart Weigh/Wrap, a business in the ITW Food Equipment Group located in Troy, Ohio is a seeking an Engineering Manager of complex and highly technical products.
Job Description
As the Engineering Manager you will be responsible for managing a team, projects and processes to ensure Hobart maintains quality in their products and delivers on customer expectations.
Primary Responsibilities
• Establish a relationship with key personnel and leads cross functional interaction within ITW FEG business units towards continuous improvement of our products. Interface and coordinate with Marketing, Manufacturing, Service, Sourcing, and external customers.
• Provide management and leadership direction for projectstomeet project schedules, budgets, and specificationsincluding reviewingthe manufacturability of designs for fabrication, assembly, and potential tolerance issues and implementingdesign changes to resolve and prevent issues.Identifyprojects risks anddeveloprisk reduction plans. Provide documentation to release product development designsand improvementsto the manufacturing plant.
• Investigate issues withservice,marketing,manufacturing,and purchasing functions andprovide the technical supportto correct/preventdefectsand coordinate theimplementation of changes. Prepare periodic reports and project status updates.Coordinate the implementation ofengineeringchanges with manufacturing and service teams.
• Maximize the companies' investment in personnel development, coaching, mentoring,developingobjectives, interviewing, hiring,training, and resource allocationto achieve objectives. Responsible for the prompt completion of performance appraisals, salary reviews, and corrective action forms for subordinates. Assess competency skills needed to achieve objectivesand providetraining and professional developmentasneeded.
• Travel to manufacturing plant and customers as required during development cycle of projects. Up to 15% travel required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering (experience in robotic/electronic systems and Master's Degree preferred)
- 15+ years of engineering-related experience and 10+ years leading a team
- PMP Certification (preferred)
- Understanding and proficiency in all computer-related software packages (Microsoft Office, etc.) and additional engineering specific software such as PLM, wiki, task tracker, test case management, ERP, and project management tools.
- The ability to build relationships through all levels of the organization, cross-functionally, and with external customers/suppliers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation, consultative skills, coaching, and presentation skills.
