Our Engineering Career Framework is viewable by anyone outside the company and describes what’s expected for our engineers at each of our career levels. Check out our blog post on this topic and more here.

At Dropbox, we strive to be a great place for all Dropboxers to grow and be recognized for that growth. This job posting reflects broad requirements, and represents two potential levels of role. Through our assessment process, we will identify your level that ties to compensation based on your experience and technical expertise along with the scope of the role.

For candidates hired in San Francisco metro, New York City metro, or Seattle metro, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently $206,600 - $243,000 - $279,500 if you are assessed at the MGR4 level. If you are instead assessed at the MGR5 level, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently $229,500 - $270,000 - $310,500.

For candidates hired in the following locations: Austin (TX) metro, Chicago metro, California (outside SF metro), Colorado, Connecticut (outside NYC metro), Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York (outside NYC metro), Oregon, Pennsylvania (outside NYC or DC metro), Washington (outside Seattle metro) and Washington DC metro, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently $185,900 - $218,700 - $251,500 if you are assessed at the MGR4 level. If you are instead assessed at the MGR5 level, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently $206,600 - $243,000 - $279,500.

For candidates hired in all other US locations, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for this role is currently $165,200 - $194,400 - $223,600 if you are assessed at the MGR4 level. Range(s) is subject to change. Dropbox takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location/metropolitan area, skillset, and peer compensation. Dropbox uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location to determine which metropolitan pay range we use.

Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

An Insider's view of Dropbox

How would you describe the company’s work-life balance?

In the first time in over a decade, I’ve been able to actually have work life balance and to develop healthy habits because of Virtual First. My commute time is now filled with a morning workout and the end of my day now looks like being able to cook for myself. I also was able to move closer to family, which means the world to me.

Caitlin

Diversity Program Manager

What's the biggest problem your team is solving?

In a world that’s radically shifting virtual, it’s exciting to be at a company aiming to solve a lot of the problems at the crux of the transition. I’ve been working on projects that help small businesses using Dropbox collaborate and improve their overall user experience.

How does the company support your career growth?

Dropbox has provided me a great opportunity to work with some of the top talent in the industry. The amount of creativity and innovation I have been apart of has been amazing. Whether you’re an individual contributor or a VP, Dropbox provides amazing opportunity, training, and support for your career.

Latane

Head of Physical Infrastructure

What is your vision for the company?

I see the 40-hour office workweek becoming a thing of the past. Employees will escape grueling commutes and gain more control over their day. The workplace will now be wherever work happens, and the workweek will be whenever work happens best for each person. We'll grow stronger as we integrate dispersed talent with diverse perspectives.

Drew

Co-founder and CEO

How does the company support your career growth?

There’s always an opportunity to pivot and learn new skills or internally transfer to a team that’s outside your normal scope of work. The humility and empathy that Dropboxers have is unlike anywhere else I’ve worked. There’s always going to be someone on the other side willing to bring you in on a project or mentor you.
