The Opportunity
DAT is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team in Beaverton, OR or Denver, CO.
Candidate profile
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager that has cultivated software engineering talent, and executed projects successfully. You will be working with 1-2 teams in a modern technology ecosystem rooted in AWS and TypeScript. Engineering managers at DAT partner closely with their product counterparts, and work across teams to deliver successfully. Engineering managers are evaluated based on the outcomes of their teams and the individuals on those teams.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate with product team and other stakeholders to set clear goals for teams and individuals
- Guide the teams in meeting technical requirements including security, reliability, scalability, extensibility and maintainability
- Partner with product team to define and build solutions that deliver high customer value
- Coach and mentor team members to overcome obstacles and grow their career
- Hire and retain engineering talent with high engagement
- Own and drive forward engineering department initiatives
The Skills and Experience You’ll Bring
- Educational background in engineering or equivalent experience, plus
- 8+ years’ experience in software development
- 2+ years’ leading software engineering teams and projects
- Expertise building professional bridges with professionals from a wide range of disciplines
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy
- Desire to drive operational excellence by continuously improving monitoring, observability, and tooling
- Technical acumen to create clarity around architectural and strategic decisions
- Competency in core technology concepts including containers, microservices, modern JS/TS frameworks, API development, Scrum/Agile, testing, and public cloud
- History of investing in the professional growth and development of individuals and teams
- Experience hiring and retaining top engineering talent
- Outstanding interpersonal, written communication skills
(Colorado only) In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the minimum salary for this role is $175,000.00 + benefits. The maximum compensation for this role can vary significantly depending on your job-related skills and experience.
