Engineering Manager - MarketWatch

The MarketWatch team is looking for an Engineering Manager who wants to be part of an engineering team that works closely with our Product partners and other technology and business groups across Dow Jones. At MarketWatch, everyone has the opportunity to come up with new ideas and our engineering team plays a critical role in all stages of the product lifecycle. Our ideal candidate will be someone who has experience managing engineering teams and has a focus on building process and relationships within the team and with other groups.

As the manager of the MarketWatch team, you will work collaboratively with engineers and business stakeholders, both at MarketWatch and across other brands and groups at Dow Jones. You'll partner closely with our Product team to keep the team running smoothly, and collaborate with other managers, Product Owners, and engineers across Dow Jones on ways to share knowledge, services, and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manages a team of developers
• Key technical partner to stakeholder groups and brands across Dow Jones
• Assists in leading/coordinating projects
• Helps to prioritize and manage work for your team of engineers
• Periodic evaluation of staff

Skills & Experience

• 7-10 years total experience in Software Engineering, preferably in web application development
• 1-3 years leading or managing and motivating a Software Engineering team
• Experience with Javascript frameworks (Vue.js, React, or similar framework)
• Node.js
• Experience with cloud computing via AWS or another cloud provider
• Understanding of microservices or service-oriented architecture
• Experience with Agile Development methodologies (SCRUM)
• Experience with Product teams in building and maintaining workflow processes
• Proven ability to analyze, separate, and estimate effort associated with various technical solutions
• Ability and desire to interact with technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels
