In Spotify for Artists, we’re focused on giving artists and their teams the insights and tools they need to grow their audience and monetize their fanbase. Our Fan Insights and Guidance team aims to educate artists and their teams about their fans and provide actionable steps for growth. Our areas of expertise include the Spotify Charts website and consumer application features, the Spotify for Artists stats pages, and several robust data pipelines. We work closely with various cross-functional teams including Music, Artists and Label Partnerships, Legal and Licensing, and Marketing.


As an engineering manager at Spotify your main responsibility is to the people you support. Ensuring that they are growing as engineers, delivering value to the business and generally having a phenomenal time at Spotify! Your technical leadership and solid background in software development will ensure you are able to appropriately support, challenge and help grow your team members. This role will provide you with the opportunity to influence our team culture, helping teams learn as they deliver, partnering to drive our product strategy, and creating an environment that continuously improves our excellence in execution. What you'll do

  • Develop a team of engineers at various career levels through coaching, mentoring, and management support.
  • Facilitate collaboration with other engineering teams, product managers, data scientists, user researchers and designers to solve interesting and challenging problems across our fan commerce platform.
  • Guide and support engineering technology architecture for product development.
  • Lead and advocate for better development practices (CI, testing, operational efficiency, etc.)
  • Grow the technical expertise of your team around quality, scalability, performance, and fault tolerance using state of the art tools.
  • Work closely with the recruitment team to hire and onboard engineers.

Who you are

  • You love developing and growing people and have a proven track record of growing engineering teams.
  • You are knowledgeable and passionate about the full stack of software development, from performant data pipelines to a well crafted UI. A background in data engineering and/or machine learning would be especially helpful.
  • You are engaged with the business impact your team provides and have a clear vision of the technical roadmap.
