The Large Power Systems Division is looking for an Engineering Manager to support the development of Caterpillar Power Conversion Systems.  In this role, you will lead a team of power conversion specialists along with electrical and mechanical engineers who will design and develop electrical conversion systems for the Advanced Power Products Division.  Specific products include: bi-directional inverters, BEV chargers, DC converters, and related electrical and electronics system integration.  This role will collaborate with cooling, battery, power conversion, and controls teams along with technical center development staff.  In addition to technical collaboration this manger will work closely with market facing, product support, purchasing, and manufacturing teams.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage all aspects of the design, cost, development, production launch, and maintenance of advanced power conversion products.
  • Provide team leadership and guidance across business and technical topics for advanced power conversion.
  • Collaborate with market facing teams to assist with product definition and resolution of customer issues.  Serve as a technical communicator to customers and dealers.
  • Collaborate with supporting teams for sub-system design, testing and development, supplier selection, manufacturing ,and product support.
  • Establish a product and technology strategy for advanced power systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited curriculum
  • Technical Leadership - Experience with complex power systems, power conversion, electrical hardware design and development
  • 15+ years of relevant engineering work experience
  • 5+ years managing or leading teams
  • Strong communication skills – Oral and written complemented by the ability to develop/deliver technical presentations

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Engineering from an accredited curriculum
  • Prior experience with electric power systems and electric power markets
  • Prior experience with megawatt scale power conversion for stationary or mobile applications.
  • Experience with taking a product from launch to production.
  • Manufacturing and purchasing experience.
  • Technology and product strategy.

Additional Information:

  • This position is located Mossville, IL
  • Up to 10% travel likely.
