About the Role:
Engineering Manager, Platform Operations
The Engineering Manager in the platform operations domain will help our Cloud and DevOps engineers build out our vision through maintaining a building on top of our cloud infrastructure. This role requires 30% hands-on development, 30% team management, 30% project management, and 10% building a positive culture amongst teams. This role will own the delivery of infrastructure projects, uptime support, security, and quality assurance.
This is a full-time, remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Provide project management support by aligning engineers on priorities
- Utilize Jira to track all operations engineering work
- Work with stakeholders to develop and communicate roadmaps and goals
- Develop and iterate on documentation and infrastructure architecture diagrams
- Own scalability, security, and stability of systems
- Provide technical and architectural guidance to engineers
- Pair with engineers to drive projects across the finish line
- Align engineers on technical best practices, security and industry standards
- Measure and share monthly DORA metrics and other KPIs to leadership team
- Hire, retain, and develop strong global ops engineers
- Recommend best approaches for horizontally scaling infrastructure
- Ensure alignment of company and organizational values across teams

- Ensure engineer due diligence and quality control
- Own security, monitoring, and alerting for cloud infrastructure
- Lead teams through company growth initiatives and changes
- Maintain a positive and respectful culture
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of professional experience as a hands-on technical contributor
- 5+ years of professional experience in product development as an engineer
- 3+ years professional experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- 2+ years of professional experience managing multiple teams
- 2+ years experience working with Jira to document and break down work
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or similar field
- Clear understanding of the full product development lifecycle and how to support the needs
- Strong eye for detail and the ability to deliver quality development work
- Strong communication and written skills
- High ability to tolerate the occasional dad joke or pun
- Understanding of event driven systems a plus
