About the Role:

Engineering Manager, Platform Operations

The Engineering Manager in the platform operations domain will help our Cloud and DevOps engineers build out our vision through maintaining a building on top of our cloud infrastructure. This role requires 30% hands-on development, 30% team management, 30% project management, and 10% building a positive culture amongst teams. This role will own the delivery of infrastructure projects, uptime support, security, and quality assurance.

This is a full-time, remote position.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide project management support by aligning engineers on priorities 
  • Utilize Jira to track all operations engineering work 
  • Work with stakeholders to develop and communicate roadmaps and goals  
  • Develop and iterate on documentation and infrastructure architecture diagrams 
  • Own scalability, security, and stability of systems 
  • Provide technical and architectural guidance to engineers 
  • Pair with engineers to drive projects across the finish line 
  • Align engineers on technical best practices, security and industry standards 
  • Measure and share monthly DORA metrics and other KPIs to leadership team 
  • Hire, retain, and develop strong global ops engineers 
  • Recommend best approaches for horizontally scaling infrastructure 
  • Ensure alignment of company and organizational values across teams

  • Ensure engineer due diligence and quality control 
  • Own security, monitoring, and alerting for cloud infrastructure  
  • Lead teams through company growth initiatives and changes  
  • Maintain a positive and respectful culture 

Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years of professional experience as a hands-on technical contributor 
  • 5+ years of professional experience in product development as an engineer 
  • 3+ years professional experience with Docker and Kubernetes 
  • 2+ years of professional experience managing multiple teams 
  • 2+ years experience working with Jira to document and break down work 
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or similar field 
  • Clear understanding of the full product development lifecycle and how to support the needs 
  • Strong eye for detail and the ability to deliver quality development work  
  • Strong communication and written skills 
  • High ability to tolerate the occasional dad joke or pun 
  • Understanding of event driven systems a plus
