About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a frontend engineering team. In this role, you will be an advocate and coach for your team while also solving interesting challenges, doing some hands on coding, and scaling product success at a fast paced start up.

You will join Syndio at a critical moment, as we invest in our growing engineering teams to evolve the platform to meet increasingly complex user needs. Your guidance and collaboration in building scalable software engineering solutions for our product suite will have a meaningful impact on helping companies achieve fairness in the workplace.

  • Manage a team of highly skilled frontend engineers - providing a positive work environment by coaching, and advocate for them.
  • Provide technical leadership to the engineers and be responsible for technical decisions made on your team
  • Contribute to and guide the engineering organization’s best practices, such as process improvements and communication
  • Work with the entire engineering organization (frontend, product, and site reliability) to ensure frontend projects meet all team requirements
  • Collaborate to the design and development of new features and services delivered to Syndio’s end users

About you
  • Passion for being a people champion, high performance, and great design
  • Experience as an individual contributor experience as frontend software engineer (React, Redux, Javascript, Typescript preferred)
  • Experience with software engineering methodology experience with a focus on testing discipline
  • Experience with B2B-focused solution and architecture design
  • Experience delivering cloud based applications (we use GCP)
  • Strong knowledge of API architecture and experience building APIs
  • You are a strong leader with the ability to propose solutions based on your experience and invite feedback from your team
  • You are a compassionate mentor, able to raise the game of your teammates
  • You excel in a collaborative environment, supported by a strong team of design and engineering resources
  • You are ready to work with teams across the organization to ensure the needs of everyone are met as well as can be
  • You have excellent communication skills that enable you to interface with both technical and non-technical teams
  • You bring problem-solving and critical thinking skills to our dynamic startup environment
  • You have experience in enterprise technology applications architecture, design, development, and maintenance, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and security
  • You are passionate about our mission to close pay gaps and create fairness in the workplace.

Role progression

  • Within 1 month, you’ll understand the strengths and weaknesses of our current platform and the Frontend engineering team.
  • Within 3 months, you’ll be working on small designs and projects, formulating opinions / making proposals on improving engineering processes, and mentoring Frontend engineers in their personal growth.
  • Within 6 months, you’ll be leading efforts to improve the lives of the Frontend engineering team and everyone who interacts with them; you’ll be contributing to greater overall happiness of the team.
  • Within 12 months, you’ll be celebrating with the team as we’re launching new products and features better than we ever have before.

  • 💰 Competitive Compensation. For this role our base salary is targeted at $165 -$194k per year. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience and expertise.

An organization can work to resolve pay gaps but if future comp decisions don’t take that work into account then the problems just come back.
