This is an incredibly exciting opportunity and we have only just begun!

As Engineering Manager for Nordstrom’s Data Quality platform, you will play a pivotal role in this evolution. As we weave AI into the fabric of all our Nordstrom experiences, we increasingly need high-quality data for model training and decisioning. As Engineering Manager for this team, you’ll be uniquely positioned to improve data quality across all of Nordstrom’s cloud. From real-time anomalies to data drift to data loss, your platform empowers its customers to quickly set up critical guardrails, alerting them when their data quality is in question. With a keen customer focus, you will collaborate with external teams from across Nordstrom, understand their needs and use those needs to define key metrics which quantify their satisfaction. You will also guide and deliver technical solutions to understand where our data reside as well as their relationships, lineage and relevance. All of this will help you build a delightful solution surfacing timely, relevant and accurate data to employees all across Nordstrom.

You are responsible for...

The Data Quality system and its technical evolution

The development of technical solutions (e.g., APIs, SDKs, etc.) that support measuring, alerting and highlighting data quality across Nordstrom

Developing and fostering a healthy and collaborative culture for your team that embodies both industry best practices and Nordstrom values

Growing and developing an incredible team of talented and motivated engineers with high expectations around individual ownership and impact

Driving the roadmap and technical vision for the team, collaborate with product groups and partner teams to deliver value to our customers

Influencing key decisions on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions

Being the bar raiser, pushing the limit on how solutions are designed and built, how systems are operated, and how we support our engineers to deliver better experiences for our customers

You own this if you have...

B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or comparable experience

Experience (2+ years) managing/leading a team of junior and senior engineers to achieve impactful results

Demonstrable experience owning and operating business critical systems servicing internal and external customers

Deep experience in development, are comfortable working in code and skilled at explaining and advocating for new technologies and solutions.

Profound care for your people and the desire to help those who want to help themselves

Demonstrable ability to establish a vision, define a roadmap, and to execute on it

Pragmatism. You can prioritize, simplify, and make a path toward results.

Proactive mindset. You seek the best solution for the company and customer and take action without being directed

The capability to truly listen to our customers and partners, internalize their needs and develop simple and elegant solutions that they can’t live without

A bias towards action guided by evidence-based decision-making mindset

Possess relevant experience with machine learning and data science concepts

Experience in AWS, Kafka, Spark, Kubernetes and REST API is a big plus
