Nordstrom is looking for a talented Engineering Manager to lead our Big Data Platform team. At the heart of our data-driven decision-making processes and services is NAP, the Nordstrom Analytical Platform, and the Big Data Platform team supports the Object Layer of NAP. The Big Data Platform team's mission is to deliver highly available enterprise scale Big Data platforms that amaze and delight our internal customers.
In this role, you will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and lead a team of DevOps software engineers who deliver code to AWS with our CI/CD pipelines. You will work closely with the Senior Engineering Manager, Technical Program Manager, and Product Owner to design, build, and support Nordstrom's Big Data platforms. You will own technical solutions that comply with Nordstrom's engineering standards while applying Site Reliability Engineering principles. You will be responsible for recruiting and hiring talent as well as coaching and mentoring your team members in their career.

A day in the life...

• Lead a team that supports enterprise Big Data platforms in AWS including EMR, Presto, Spark, and Ranger
• Own the team's application architecture, coding standards, and quality of service monitoring
• Deploy AWS resources and code changes with our CI/CD pipeline using GitLab, Java, Python, and Terraform
• Mentor DevOps team members to live and breathe infrastructure as code following SRE principles
• Create training opportunities for team members to learn latest technologies and methodologies
• Partner with a dedicated technical program manager to manage project work following agile methodologies
• Hire capable and motivated talent that can deliver swiftly and predictably
• Employ continuous improvement methodologies across the team
• Aggressively manage AWS costs

You own this if you have:

• 5+ years of experience with Big Data solutions such as EMR, Hadoop, Presto, Spark, and Ranger
• 5+ years of experience programming with general purpose languages such as Java, Python, or Go and scripting languages such as Unix Shell, Bash, and PowerShell
• 5+ years of experience with AWS
• 2+ years leading teams
• Experience with Git, CI/CD tools, and automation practices
• Experience with enterprise logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions such as Splunk, New Relic, and PagerDuty
• Familiar with Kafka, Containers, Terraform, Ranger, and NiFi
• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent

Minimum - $30,200/annual
Maximum - $289,200/annual
