Engineering Manager, Android | Consumer Platform
Job Purpose
LTK is searching for an Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for our consumer facing Android application. As the leader of this team you must have the ability to recruit and build the team while having the experience and technical knowledge to mentor, empower, and challenge the engineers on your team.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and hire software engineers for your team.
- Develop the team through mentorship, coaching, and regular feedback sessions.
- Coordinate with product, design, marketing, and support to define roadmap and requirements.
- Contribute to development, code reviews, maintenance, and architectural discussions.
- Maintain and improve team productivity, ensure proper SDLC, and remove blockers.
QualificationsLeadership
- Servant leader used to getting your hands dirty with your team
- Experience building and growing high performance flexible teams
- Ability to help guide teams’ technical decision-making
- Ability to empower teams in a collaborative environment
- At least 3 years in leadership roles
- Able to drive productivity and deliverables to completion
- Comfortable shipping periodically and on-the-fly
- Assisting in creating, implementing and optimizing development and delivery standards
Work Management & Communication
- Highly developed negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills
- Able to work with other engineering teams to complete complex projects
- Sensitive to deadlines and able to adapt quickly to change
Technical Skills
- 7+ years of software development experience in a fast-paced environment with several years of recent Android development experience in large-scale apps
- 3+ years management experience, preferably mobile
- Understand Android architecture, specifically MVVM and major components of Jetpack
- Understanding of design patterns especially as they relate to Android
- Open to common mobile frameworks, tooling, and processes within native development environment
- Experience with automation/instrumentation and unit testing and how to leverage each prior to QA handoff
- Experience delivering on-time while addressing architectural change and tech debt
- Experience with CI/CD
- Understanding of web-to-app flows (e.g. deep links)
- Previous experience with A/B testing
Nice to Have
- Experience in e-commerce
- Experience with Branch.io
- Keep up to date with Google Play policies and how they affect the app
- Keep up to date with Android’s direction
- Experience with Kotlin
- Experience with iOS development
