Engineering Group Manager - Battery Pack
Description
The key responsibilities of this position will be focused on ownership to develop and sustain an execution excellence culture within Battery Pack Engineering:
- Lead a team responsible for the design and development of battery packs components and subsystems to meet or exceed VTS and powertrain SSTS requirements. Drive an intense focus on internal and external requirements by assuring that deliverables are consistent with requirements for product safety, reliability, maintainability, performance, and certification.
- Bring a global perspective and global management experience to assure an integrated, consistent, and concurrent engineering process to program development and execution - from early design to integration and testing. Coordinate execution of global programs and delivery from teams located around the world.
- Actively engage in external technical communities and benchmarking activities to bring outside perspective to continuously mature organizational capability and improve our products and processes.
- Create and foster an inclusive open culture where out-of-box thinking is encouraged. This manager will provide thought leadership, foster innovation, facilitate communication, and inspire passion into the organization.
- Hire, Train, develop, mentor, manage, and develop employees. Ensure there is right technical and leadership bench strength in the team. Cultivate a growth mindset.
- Drive GM Behaviors and Competencies; actively champion change to support GM's transformation; demonstrate high business acumen; strategically focus on addressing systemic issues; possess high learning agility, ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity, tendency to push the envelope and not accept status quo.
Additional Description
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
- 7+ years of engineering experience related to product development.
- 3+ years people leader experience
- 3+ years electrified propulsion system experience
- 3+ years high Voltage battery experience

- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Technical Skills:
- Demonstrated technical depth in related engineering domain.
- Knowledge of GM System Engineering & Safety Process.
- Familiar with complex system development and validation methods and processes.
- Exposure to various functions planning, engineering, purchasing etc.
- Strong problem-solving skills - the ability to analyze and diagnose systemic issues.
Desired Skills:
- MS Engineering preferred (ME/EE/Aerospace)
- Working knowledge on some aspects of electric propulsion - design, software, cells, systems, and vehicle structure integration.
- Knowledge of GVDP/GPDP.
- Management experience of product engineering teams.
- Experience managing a global team that is geographically dispersed.
- A strong focus on program management, metrics, data and results.
