This is a Hybrid position within our organization. The role will allow employees to work off-site but will also require on-site work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility (Phoenix, AZ or Austin, TX). Relocation will be provided if needed.
For all external applicants, we are targeting a start date on or after January 10th 2022 for this position.

The Vehicle Intelligence Platform Semiconductors engineering team is a dynamic, high-energy and innovative group focused on design and commercialization of leading-edge semiconductors to support the introduction of new technologies as we transition to the Ultify and Ultium powered Software Defined Vehicle.
We are seeking a high-performing Engineering Group Manager to guide the team in the design and selection of leading-edge semiconductors to power our Software Defined Vehicle future. The selected EGM will be depended on to work in close collaboration with our semiconductor supply base partners as well as internal teams such as the Software Defined Vehicle architecture leadership and SDV Mechatronics Chief Engineer to ensure alignment to program and feature requirements.
The selected EGM will be expected to ensure the organization has the capability and resources to execute on-time with quality and provide thought leadership, foster innovation, facilitate communication, and inspire passion.

Responsibilities

  • Establish strong semiconductor design capabilities furthering enterprise software and manufacturing agility
  • Lead the synthetization of architecture level hardware and software requirements to establish semiconductor design and integration plans defining the hardware necessary to power the future of the SDV.
  • Build partnerships and collaborate with functional peers across electronics and software engineering as well as purchasing to execute work with quality and efficiency.
  • Build strong semiconductor design and manufacturing partnerships.
  • Establish persistent advanced development and benchmarking activities to understand the innovation frontier and ensure the team is working at the leading edge of semiconductor technology.
  • Establish clear plans for execution per program milestones and anticipate/mitigate risks. Monitor & Track Progress and proactively escalate status and issues as required. Communicate strategic roadmap, budgetary, resource status/requests to executive leadership.
  • Cultivate a collaborative environment irrespective of structural and organizational barriers. Create and foster an inclusive culture where out-of-box thinking is encouraged. Continuously evaluate, develop, retain, and recruit talent. Drive culture of safety and regulatory compliance.


Additional Description
Qualifications - Required

  • BS in Engineering
  • 8+ years of engineering experience including minimum 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Experience in semiconductor design and manufacturing including:
    • Silicon Architecture [Requirements definition, block diagram, IP selection]
    • RTL logic design, gate-level netlist generation, physical layout
    • Packaging/Back-End Assembly
    • EDA Toolchain, Analysis & Validation
    • In-plant semiconductor foundry experience
    • Experienced in leading efforts in IP licensing and configuration
    • Experience with CPU/MCU/SOC micro-architecture and performance analysis
    • Familiar with designing circuits for electromigration and ESD compliance in submicron CMOS process
    • Strong intuitive and analytical understanding of transistor-level circuit design including noise and mismatch analysis
    • Experience with high speed interconnection or bus design
    • Experience with low power circuit design and simulations
    • Experience in chip security design is a plus
  • Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries
  • Exceptional demonstrated experience leading large-scale projects
  • Demonstrated capability to partner with purchasing to establish and execute commercial strategies and negotiate of contracts
  • Strong problem-solving skills, demonstrated ability to analyze and diagnose systemic issues


Qualifications - Preferred

  • Management experience of teams of engineers responsible for designing and commercializing hardware or software
  • Experience managing a global team
  • A strong focus on program management, metrics, data, and results
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration
