H-E-B Digital is seeking new team members (Partners)! As a Engagement Manager in the Engineering space you'll raise up your team, helping develop individual careers and achieving goals, spotting and addressing common team problems, and coaching and mentoring those identified for potential company leadership. You'll work closely with stakeholders from product and design, and other engineering leaders, to provide high-quality, repeatable technology delivery for the digital engineering organization. What You'll Do (Management, Design & Development)
- Creating and documenting the engineering curriculum for upskilling and educating engineers, business analysts, and any other individual contributor (IC) roles that exist in Engineering
- Establishing and organizing broad reaching internal engagement activities such as developer conferences, hackathons, workgroups, and guilds
- Working directly with technical leaders, principal engineers, and engineering managers and directors to understand the needs of engineering teams
- Improving the onboarding process
- Evaluating job descriptions, roles, and responsibilities in Engineering space
- Having a pulse on all recruiting with an eye towards improvement on various programs within HEB
- Help grow Digital Engineering by driving execution of organization-wide activities
- Representing H-E-B engineering to external organizations such as conferences, publications/blogs/podcasts, academic institutions, and vendors (that provide training consulting, materials, or courses)
- Recommend improvements to overall application system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and performance
- Identify ways to improve codebases, solutions to complex problems; effectively propose paths forward to drive outcomes
- Recommend changes to processes and tools at the group / dept level based on industry standards, patterns, and practices
- Diagnose / troubleshoot extremely complex issues
- Create documentation and training related to technology stacks and standards
- Jump down to IC-level duties, when needed, to provide guidance on code reviews or pull requests
Who You Are
- You have a related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
- You have 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer in a deployment environment
- You have 4+ years of experience working in a learning and development capacity
- You have 4+ years of experience with developing curriculum for Software Engineers and technical stakeholders
- You have an expert understanding of development methodologies and processes
- You understand cross-tech stacks and scalability and reliability implications
- You have technical competence equivalent to expectations of a Senior Engineer
- You have skills in multiple languages, technologies, and frameworks and can quickly on-board to projects in minimal time
- You're capable of learning new technologies, processes, or business quickly and effectively
- You approach problem-solving holistically and consider solutions through a combination of technology and processes
- You can coordinate work for a group of engineers on major initiatives
