Salary Range

$99,700 - $166,800
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a motivated individual to support Nuclear nonproliferation and Counter-proliferation programs including international standard methodologies for an instructional design specialist to support Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) sanctions compliance and enforcement, due diligence programs, and domestic and international export control programs.
On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Conduct analyses on national and regional security programs, conduct gap analysis to discover new project needs
  • Develop and deliver training materials on funded projects, and conduct research and analysis on countries and strategic commodities of programmatic interest
  • Apply analysis of international affairs, principles of foreign relations, and scientific and engineering principles in analysis of advanced concepts and technologies for nonproliferation, nuclear security, insider threat, and international export control regimes.
  • Work with USG personnel in counterproliferation, nonproliferation, strategic trade controls enforcement, and nuclear security and safety programs to understand USG needs and assist in meeting program goals.
  • Serve as the process expert on a team of technically diverse subject matter experts in the development of training curriculum, exercises, and technical exchange workshop materials.

Qualifications We Require

  • Master's degree in Science, Engineering, Law, Law Enforcement, Social Sciences, or other relevant field, plus four (4) years' or more years of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job; Or Bachelor's degree as stated above, plus eight (8) years of related experience
  • Experience as an instructional systems designer
  • Experience in leading small groups of peers; writing funding proposals and engage with the team to find opportunities, needs, and gaps
  • Experience developing and delivering training materials including virtual teaching and remote workshop delivery
  • Ability to travel internationally in support of programs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q-level security clearance



Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience working with USG funding agencies, including the Department of State, DHS, DOD, Commerce, or NNSA/DOE with a history of building successful working relationships with customers
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Six Sigma training and certification
  • Familiarity with DOE's DOE-HDBK-1078-94 (Reaffirmed 2014), Systematic Approach to Training
  • Demonstrated versatility, political savvy, and high tolerance for ambiguity
  • Passion for learning and commitment to mentorship
  • Previous experience working in/with international multilateral organizations
  • Cultural awareness with foreign partners, particularly in training environments
  • Ability to develop a working relationship with foreign government officials
  • Ability to develop and deliver training curriculum in international settings
  • Knowledge of project management
  • SharePoint and Excel literacy

Security Clearance

Position Information

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
