DevOps Platform team exists to improve the software delivery experience by enabling Nationwide to deliver business value faster and with higher quality, by enabling and promoting the use of DevOps tools, practices, and processes.

This role will get to work in a fast-paced environment and gets to learn and support DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Harness and more.

What you'll get from the role:

What we would like from you:

  • Positive attitude, passion and the ability to learn and grow above all.
  • General troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Entry level experience with Scripting such as Python, and/or Programming such as Java and Angular and system administration.
  • User experience with DevOps tools such as GitHub, Jenkin, Harness would be a plus but not a must.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you'll code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.
  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
  • Adopts continuous improvement and learning.
  • Handles project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.


May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: One or more years of technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency of at least one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, etc. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Good problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, such as competencies and experiences, may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the Director and HR Officer.

Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)

Working Conditions: Office environment may vary based on team and/or location. Associates may have on-call responsibility after normal working hours and/or on weekends.
