The Large Power Systems Division is looking for a engineer to support the development of Caterpillar Advanced Power conversion systems. In this role, you will design and develop power conversion systems for Caterpillar advanced power products. Specific products include: off board DC chargers, on board machine chargers, standalone site charging systems, automated and manual connection systems, bi-directional inverters, and related controls/operational interfaces. This role will collaborate with cooling, battery, power conversion, and controls teams along with purchasing and validation teams. In addition to technical collaboration this engineer will be responsible for the design and performance quality of charging systems from development through production.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Design and release power conversion systems for Caterpillar advanced power products.
- Meet cost, quality, and performance targets.
- Collaborate with supporting teams to develop an FMEA based validation plan.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop and/or select products for use within the power conversion product line.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum
- Experience with design and development of power electronics or power conversion systems
- 2+ years of relevant engineering work experience
- Strong communication skills - Oral and written complemented by the ability to develop/deliver technical presentations
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Master's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum
- Experience with new product introduction and FMEA based product development.
- Experience working with suppliers and purchasing to introduce a new product to market.

- Up to 10% travel likely.
