THE ROLE: Engineer, Managed Services Cloud

Presidio is seeking an Engineerto join our team in a remote capacity.The Engineer is a team member responsible for monitoring and managing customer internal infrastructures and their platforms under direct supervision of the Engineering Manager. The Engineer will be the primary point of contact for all incidents assigned to them and retain ownership until resolution unless otherwise advised. The position is subject to shift work and a candidate would be expected to move to different shifts as needed. The Engineer will be expected to interact with customers, peers and management via phone, IM, video, and email to ensure customer issues are resolved per contracted SLA's while documenting all actions and communication in the ticketing system, ServiceNow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot clients AWS specific workloads and application issues.
  • Provide clients with technical guidance on AWS solutions and services.
  • Monitoring and optimization of workloads within AWS.
  • Infrastructure deployments using infrastructure as code.
  • Implement cloud governance for clients.
  • Provide feedback to team on process improvements and areas of concern.
  • Create and maintain documentation.
  • Be available while on-shift through several different venues - Instant Messaging, phone, emails and any new and acceptable methods of communication as deemed appropriate.
  • Provide emergency on-call support on a rotating schedule.
  • Support ongoing efforts in defining best practice policies for all supported products and submitting these into the Knowledge Base.



Required Skills:

  • Troubleshoot issues with clients' AWS infrastructure
  • Embrace security-first, assumed breach methodologies to ensure client compliance and continuously improve client security posture
  • Continuously develop technical skills to gain mastery with the established toolchain and stay current with new services and technologies
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and automated deployment/management using tools like Jenkins, Git, Jinja, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, Packer, or comparable tools
  • Programming/scripting with Python, PowerShell, and/or Bash
  • Solid understanding of AWS services, other providers a plus
  • A history of successfully managing and operating multi-vendor environments.
  • Knowledge of networking and application protocols such as HTTP, DNS and TCP/IP
  • Experience with configuring, administering, and troubleshooting applications and infrastructure in an enterprise environment
  • Basic understanding of PCI, SOC2, and HIPAA compliance standards
  • Handling and Escalating highly impacting operational issues to upper Management and/or 3rd party vendor escalation
  • Strong communications skills including the ability to communicate technical information using non-technical language
  • AWS Associate level certification (AWS Professional level certs is a plus)



Additional Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience or aptitude to be successful in an Operations capacity
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent Linux administration skillset preferred
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Comprehensive verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintaining complex operational processes



Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent work experience and/or military experience
  • Previous experience working in a Network Operations Center
  • Experience utilizing a ticket system such as Remedy, ServiceNow or Service Desk.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and expert level relationship management abilities - showcasing the ability to work well with many levels of client engineering and management.
  • The ability to function in a team environment and recognize and take on tasks with self-direction.
