Job Description

The Seller Profile group owns services for representing businesses on the Square Platform that includes mission critical back end services, public APIs, and Seller experiences in the Square Dashboard. This team plays a key part in two of Squares strategic priorities: Omnichannel and Grow Upmarket. 

As the engineer lead you will

  • Be the skip lead for two existing teams, with their Engineering Managers reporting to you

  • Establish new teams and develop or recruit new managers as your organization grows

  • Collaborate with other organizations to ensure teams and projects are set up for success and that we’re collectively working on the highest impact work

  • Collaborate with your cross-functional leaders (PM, Design) to guide the product development process and help ensure we are building the right things at the right time.

  • Build a world-class team by supporting and coaching your manager to recruit world class engineers to increase the skills and impact, cultivating pragmatic decision-making, and cultivating a culture where everyone can do their best work.

  • Develop autonomy and accountability of your teams and your organizatio

Qualifications

You have:

  • 12+ years of software development or equivalent experience on a cross-functional product development team.

  • 4+ years of experience managing software engineers

  • 2+ years of experience managing multiple teams or squads, preferably managing manager

  • Technical background in building or maintaining products at scale.

  • Experience collaborating with other engineering leaders and cross-functional team members.

  • Experience managing staff+ level engineers

Would be great if you had experience with:

  • Prior or current experience representing businesses in a software platform

  • Experience with the technologies the team uses
