How will you make an impact?
- The Engineer III, Systems and Software Test Engineer will develop test protocols and coordinate test resources to verify the performance of the system for our Flow Cytometry group within our Biosciences Division.
- As a Test Engineer you will be responsible for implementing and executing test plans that verify the functional and non-functional requirements of the system.
- In this position you will be leading the test effort working closely with the test, software, firmware, and hardware engineering teams at the project level to commercialize new and existing instrumentation.
What will you do?
- Coordinate testing activities at program meetings and align with stakeholders to build schedule, resource needs, and plans.
- Translate requirements and specifications into effective test protocols.
- Coordinate test resources during the development of test protocols, test plans, and results to align with release schedules.
- Review tests, stories, and specifications and provide feedback as needed.
- Execute test plans and collate results during the development cycle and formal product verification.
- Identify failures during test execution and log appropriate information needed for the development teams to understand, reproduce, and address the issue
- Champion and track resolution of identified software and system issues.
- Document and monitor testing outcomes and establish steps to remedy problems
- Analyze current technologies used within the company and improve test processes.
- Create effective and focused testing plans, reports, and presentations.
How will you get here?
Bachelor's degree required in Engineering, Computer Science, Physical or Natural Sciences
Experience
- 3+ years professional experience in commercial systems or software testing.
- Background in biotech preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot issues and determine root cause of defects
- Working knowledge of system/software testing concepts and systematic testing
- Working knowledge of systems and software integration testing
- Manage test projects and mentor other test resources
- Demonstrated risk-based mindset when evaluating and communicating test results and defects.
- Strong oral, written presentation skills, and the ability to work independently as well as being a team player
- Previous industrial product development experience
- Working knowledge of agile/scrum product development principles
- Working knowledge with HPALM test software and JIRA software or related
- Working knowledge of automated test tools and their implementation
- Knowledge of biology or related science a plus
