Job Purpose:
To contribute, as an individual contributor, to the validation of complex battery systems on time and within budget to meet the requirements of internal and external customers. This Engineer role is in the growing space of battery component and system development in LPSD's Advanced Power Products. Incumbent will be responsible for validation planning, coordination, and execution for new battery modules and associated components for a range of Caterpillar products,
Job Duties:

  • Contribute to the planning, coordination, and execution of test plans for batteries modules within New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) Programs.
  • Collaborate with team members and other component teams, as well as internal and external test facilities, to complete component and pack validation and certifications.
  • Participate in the FMEA and Validation Planning Workshop process
  • Maintain and regularly report out on product validation schedule and status to product leadership.
  • Build relationships and leverage business unit and corporate validation experts
  • Stay abreast of battery system industry product and testing trends


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in an accredited Engineering curriculum
  • 2-3 years of progressive work experience on the design, development, or validation/test of battery, engine, or drive train systems.
  • Strong analytical & problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously


Top Candidates will also have:

  • Experience in the validation of components and/or systems
  • Experience with Batteries and/or Battery Systems
  • Experience with other electric drivetrain components such as motors, power electronics, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with DFMEA's
  • Experience in the development process for new components or systems through NPI Process
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion to innovate, inspire, and grow professionally
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment


Additional Information:

  • This position is located Mossville, IL (Locations at other Caterpillar facilities will be considered)
  • 10% Travel likely.
