Engineer Associate – Mission Assurance
Utilize your software development skillset to see with a different optic. The mission of the software security engineer is to work with software teams to take new and existing code and work to make it execute more securely. As a software security engineering associate you will be responsible for assessing and analyzing software vulnerability against program requirements as they relate to assurance requirements and mission success. Engage with programs, senior software security engineers, and developers to mitigate vulnerabilities to meet mission objectives by quantifying mission risk against software security requirements. You will relay any concerns or risks in the product development within Ball and outside vendors. Ensure Ball mission coding standards align with programmatic and customer requirements.
What You’ll Do:
- Conduct static code analysis (SCA) per program requirements.
- Ensure the effectiveness and suitability of the security elements within software of the systems as an enabler to mission success.
- Provide and communicate understanding of both the technical and programmatic aspects of a project to the project team.
- Support remediation guidance to development teams.
- Perform on-going security testing and code review to improve software security.
- Code review practice, functional and quality focus.
- Work with Software teams to resolve open issues to meet customer risk posture on results of SCA.
- Coordinate with development teams and other appropriate personnel as needed to provide adjudication for findings.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- BS/BA degree or higher in Engineering or a related field is required.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Committed interest to Appsec.
- Software development experience in one of the following core languages is preferred: C++ , Java, .NET, Python, etc.
- Experience working with Static Code Analysis tools is preferred.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, strong written, communication, oral presentations skills, and ability to lead group discussions.
Working Conditions:

- Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $71,000 - $88,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
