Engineer 2 - Loyalty Program at Nordstrom (Seattle, WA)
Job DescriptionAn Engineer 2 is part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope, responsibility and accountability at this level supports applications, services, infrastructure and operational components, device software, or networks with minimal supervision.
Nordstrom is seeking Engineer 2 to join one of the engineering teams responsible for Nordstrom's Loyalty program (AKA Nordy Club) platform. The Nordy Club is designed to reward our customers while driving incremental value to Nordstrom. We leverage modern technologies such as AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Java, C#, ReactJS. We are a small, tight-knit, and friendly team that loves automating everything and producing high quality software using the latest technologies. Individuals interested in this position will be building high performance, reliable software in complex, multi-tiered, distributed environment. A day in the life…
Participate and contribute to the agile planning process.
Build elegant systems that are robust, stable and simple.
Write highly maintainable, easy to understand code for web services, web app and cloud infrastructure following secure coding practices.
Demonstrate foundational understanding of standards, concepts and principles of engineering to solve practical needs of the business.
Validate all scenarios and conform to code quality through complete and automated unit, integration and end-end testing.
Identify performance issues and optimize solution and infrastructure.
Instrument code appropriately across the solution.
Ensure adherence to Engineering best practices across entire solution.
Mentor junior members of the team and raise the bar for technical knowledge
Collaborate with other software engineers on design, best practices and conduct code reviews.
You own this if you have…
2+ years of full stack development experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent practical experience
Must have contributed to design, development, validation, deployment, and monitoring of one or more features for a cloud service running at scale in production
Proficiency coding in Java or C#
Strong in JavaScript/TypeScript and the JavaScript object model is a big plus
Proficiency in front end frameworks and workflows such as React, Redux is a big plus
Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, New Relic, Splunk
Familiarity with test automation and CI/CD pipeline
Curiosity and desire to learn newer and emerging technologies
