Engineer 2 - eCommerce Checkout at Nordstrom (Seattle, WA)
Job DescriptionA Software Engineer 2 is a key member of the Nordstrom Technology group of professionals that applies scientific, mathematical, and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems, and features. These technology products and features provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The scope, responsibility and accountability of this role at the feature level.
The eCommerce Checkout organization is focused on building and enhancing our next generation eCommerce platform to enable our customers to have a quick, enjoyable, and frictionless shopping experience. You will partner with product and program managers to develop and refine the online purchasing experience, using live experimentation to make data driven engineering decisions.
A day in the life…
Design and collaborate with local and partner teams
Implement software features, which satisfy business objectives, with high quality
Test all scenarios and conform to quality and security standards
Participate in design and code review to ensure quality and testability of feature code
Understand, identify, measure performance and success of features
Identify performance issues; apply knowledge of security coding practices and secure system fundamentals (e.g., cross-site scripting, security certificates)
Participate in 24X7 on-call responsibilities
You own this if you have…
2+ years professional experience in the software engineering industry
Recent experience with Web UI development using JavaScript (React, Redux, Node.JS, TypeScript)
Recent experience with RESTful APIs (Golang, Java, Python)
Recent experience with Amazon Web Services (DynamoDB, S3, EC2, Fargate, Lambda)
Test automation experience at all levels (Unit, Integration, Regression, Load)
Familiarity with modern infrastructure tools and pipelines (Gitlab CI/CD, CloudFormation)
Familiarity with ops tools, logging, and metrics (New Relic, Splunk, CloudWatch)
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
A passion for innovation, clean code, and learning new technologies
Your responsibilities...
Delivering full stack features (design, implementation, and support)
Working across the full stack of technologies (Web UI, APIs, and Infrastructure)
Building reusable cross-platform components for future use
Translating written requirements, designs and wireframes into high quality code
Work with diverse, collaborative, cross-functional teams
