Our Opportunity:

We seek a highly motivated Senior Endpoint/Systems Engineer to be part of a new and exciting team located at our Corporate Headquarters in Boston, MA. This role assists in developing, integrating, testing, distributing, and maintaining client application and operating system software for Chewy's desktop environment. Additionally, the Chewy Senior Endpoint Engineer will be responsible for creating and maintaining our corporate endpoint standards and landscape, promoting optimum enterprise software usage while maximizing security and productivity. You will curate knowledgebase content based on the ITIL framework and work with IT Infrastructure leadership to design a desktop strategy and roadmap for the organization.

You will serve a fundamental role in designing and implementing solutions to complex End Point problems. It affords you the exciting opportunity to shape Chewy's endpoint landscape and work with a variety of equipment and issues across desktops, laptops, network connectivity, Windows and macOS, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft 365, endpoint management technologies such as SCCM, MEM (previously Intune), JAMF and much more.

What You'll Do:

  • Implement Microsoft EMS environment (MEM, previously Intune + SCCM), leading the charge in bringing forth technologies such as Device Join and Autopilot to support the local and remote workforce landscape
  • Administer and maintain the Microsoft 365, SCCM, Dell, and JAMF environments
  • Prepare, test, document, release, and update OS and software applications
  • Troubleshoot complex application and hardware issues; act as final escalation point to IT Service Delivery, including documentation, analysis, and resolution of escalated issues, providing high-quality solutions to IT problems quickly
  • Create and maintain standard desktop configurations (Windows and macOS) and automated software packages to ensure the enterprise desktop systems can be supported and patched in a remote workforce
  • Maintain the control and process environment for the organization's endpoint encryption and gold standard operating system image library ensuring client configuration integrity, controlled access, and incremental versioning
  • Administer software distribution, application and security patch management, desktop security, remote support tools, and other enterprise desktop management, monitoring, and troubleshooting utilities
  • Lead Endpoint projects working with local and remote teammates, Technicians, Engineers, and other employees across the company (Software, Network, Security, UC, Systems, Procurement, Asset Management, etc.)
  • Maintain and document desktop configuration standards that support organizational security policies and create technical and standard operating procedure documentation
  • Work closely with the business on delivering standardized Endpoint Infrastructure and Applications to our growing number of new and expanding Fulfillment Centers, Call Centers, and Business Office locations
  • Latitude to develop unique projects in which you get to research new technology, solve more complex problems, perform POCs and work with senior leadership to gather potential ROI to support purchase approval
  • Manage the client system testing environment for evaluating desktop hardware, operating systems, hosted applications, service packs and patches, security configurations, and image deployment. Work with team members to schedule and report upon the execution of testing and validation efforts as part of a formal release management process
  • Craft reports that provide insight and analysis of desktop software license usage, software and hardware compliance, operating systems, and hosted application software distribution
  • Collaborate with the Asset Management team to implement processes and integrate platforms to support software and hardware asset information for the enterprise desktop environment

  • Represent team recommendations to management, demonstrate influence over governance bodies, and communicate technical issues, impact, and risk mitigation strategies in business terminology that non-technical resources can understand
  • Build strong relationships with vendors, business and technology leaders
  • Keep ahead of emerging trends, understand business area opportunities and challenges, process or system impacts to all related business or systems areas when implementing recommended solutions to achieve business objectives

What You'll Need:

    • A minimum of 10 years experience in IT
    • A bachelor's degree in computer sciences or equivalent
    • 6 years administering Active Directory environments including Group Policy, File & Print Services, DHCP
    • Significant experience with Powershell, Bash, and/or Python scripting
    • 3 years implementing and being responsible for robust M365 Enterprise Mobility environments, including Intune, System Center Suite, MDT/ADK, Ivanti
    • Experience implementing and being responsible for full disk encryption solutions such as Dell DPE, Bitlocker, and Filevault
    • 3 years being responsible for JAMF and macOS/iOS mobility enablement and deployment
    • Superior customer service and client interfacing skills
    • Exemplary analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
    • Ability to troubleshoot and solve the most complex hardware and software problems without escalation
    • Familiar with current security protection, encryption, monitoring/auditing, and remediation techniques with the proven ability to implement solutions for the network, servers, databases, and the desktop
    • Familiar with disaster recovery, business continuity, and high availability concepts from planning to testing
    • Ability to learn quickly and use new complex technical concepts and resolve issues in a rapidly changing environment
    • Ability to discuss complex technical concepts with technical staff, stakeholders, and business executives in a simple, straightforward manner
    • Ability to thrive in a pet-friendly open space seating work environment
    • Position may require travel

Bonus (if applicable):

  • Certifications in relevant technologies (MCSE, CompTIA, JAMF, macOS)
  • Experience managing 3rd party hardware and software vendors and providers
  • Experience with Security and Compliance concepts such as eDiscovery, DLP, and CASB
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform
  • Working knowledge of ITIL, project management, and Agile frameworks; certification even better
  • Familiar with managing 3rd party vendors in IT infrastructure, IT development, testing, and staff augmentation
  • Experience using JIRA / Confluence
