EMC Engineer, Hybrid Electric Team

Ford Motor Company is a global leader in vehicle electrification. Electrified Powertrain Engineering (EPE) is the Product Development team responsible for delivering the key technologies. EPE is an exciting, collaborative environment working hard to make a difference.

The EMC engineer will work with HV battery systems, DC/DC converters, Chargers, and other embedded controls and power conversion devices.
Responsibilities:

  • Work with HV battery systems, DC/DC converters, Chargers, and other embedded controls and power conversion devices
  • Colaborate with Ford Research EMC team to advance application of CAE techniques to the derivation of application-specific EMC requirements specifications
  • Support product engineers from initial concept stages
  • Analyze Ford internal and supplier designs for adherence to good EMC design practice
  • Develop EMC test plans to ensure products will be compliant with all applicable standards and regulations.
  • Diagnose root cause of EMC compliance issues and propose mitigation actions
  • Develop design guidelines to ensure EMC performance in future designs

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 1+ years of experience with electromagnetics and/or EMC activity
  • 1+ years of experience with PCB layout and schematic review for EMC best practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience with electromagnetics and/or EMC activity
  • 3+ years of experience with PCB layout and schematic review for EMC best practices
  • Proven ability to answer questions through creative design of lab experiments and CAE
  • Familiarity with lab equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
  • Work experience using EMC CAE tools (EMCoS, Ansys, PSIM, Saber, Simulink, etc)
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Familiarity with power electronics circuit topology is helpful
  • Familiarity with electrified vehicles, subsystems, or components is helpful
  • Familiarity with industry EMC standards and regulatory requirements helpful
