Our team
You will be joining the New Experiences Team in New York, or remote work anywhere in the USA. This team is responsible for interactive tools available on NM.com and the content systems powering the brand. Specifically, this role focuses on the building and supporting of functionality extending the Content Management System and front end components used to power Northwestern Mutual's website and portions of the client experience.
You will be working on projects that will define the future of the digital customer journey at Northwestern Mutual. Ideally you have crafted or contributed to public facing polished sites integrating a CMS with other front end frameworks and tools. In addition, you have worked before in a software engineering environment and understand the processes related to the software lifecycle. The applications and tools you help develop will face prospective clients directly and have a high potential to impact the business.
Our engineers work within an Agile workflow and are passionate about solving complex problems. We also believe in full ownership and expect teams to own all parts of the software, from architecture and testing to production monitoring and performance optimizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely within the engineering team, working to extend the CMS (drupal 9) in use at Northwestern Mutual.
- Development of specific front end pieces of northwesternmutual.com using a modern front end stack (vue js).
- Work with partner teams like our marketing and our design organization to help create an amazing end to end experience.
Skills & Qualifications:
- You should have experience configuring and using a Content Management System and static site generator.
- You have used a modern front-end framework (vue/react/angular) with working knowledge of current front-end trends, best practices, and web standards
- An understanding of fundamental CSS paradigms and familiarity with front-end CSS frameworks
- An understanding of system architecture and how it relates to a content management system
- An understanding of relational databases
- Usage of CI/CD and build tools
- Modern PHP experience. You are comfortable navigating this ecosystem.
- Preferably Drupal 8+ exposure including configuration, the Drupal API, custom module development and tools/frameworks related to this stack
