Your Opportunity
A great opportunity exists for a highly motivated Transportation Drainage Engineer to join our well-established Transportation and Infrastructure team in Orlando, Florida. The position provides competitive salary, excellent benefits, room for advancement and a chance to make a difference.
This is a remote role with the ability to sit anywhere in Florida.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Design of stormwater management systems, storm drain systems, open channel conveyance, culvert analysis, bridge hydraulics and floodplain compensation. Production of contract roadway plans to be submitted to FDOT, Florida's Turnpike, and other municipalities.
- Preparation and compilation of permits and reports for approval by regulating agencies.
- Prepare roadway construction plans
- Compile calculations, determining horizontal alignments and vertical profiles
- Utilizes software to prepare 3D models
- Perform other various tasks involved in preliminary engineering and creation of final design plans for highway projects.
- May be responsible for the review and sealing of own projects or the work of the others.
- Involved in the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, reviewing agency personnel.
- Coordinates with the regulatory agencies for seek final approval.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Comprehensive understanding of all phases of project document production.Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
- Possesses excellent time-management skills, thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.
- Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Proficient in relevant CADD design software, Microstation/Geopak including 3D Corridor Modeling platforms
- Knowledge of work with FDOT, cities and counties are preferred
- Experience with FDOT drainage criteria preferred
- Desirable candidate will have working knowledge of hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, ICPR, ASAD and Geopak Drainage.
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field
- Licensed Florida Professional Engineer preferred or ability to obtain within six months of hire
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience.
