The Charter Technical Engineering Center (CTEC) facilities in Englewood, CO oversee the design and architecture of Charter's multi-billion dollar network infrastructure. We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technology plan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical, Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access.
Job Summary
Responsible for testing and validation of Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and backend systems affecting CPE. This position requires a good understanding of DOCSIS, PacketCable and cable modem provisioning. The engineer will be involved in Test Execution, documentation of Test Reports and troubleshooting field escalations. Additional areas of technical focus will be on TR-069, Fiber to the Home (FTTH), IPv6, Multicast, and Voice Services, among others.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering team to review firmware requirements and provide feedback
  • Participate in weekly bug classification and prioritization
  • Establish test network environments as documented in test plans
  • Perform system-wide end-to-end integration and regression testing
  • Document results and review with designated teams or vendors as needed.
  • Work with vendor and other stakeholders to resolve issues discovered during testing; develop and document workarounds where possible, and assist operations team with implementation and escalations as needed
  • Participate in Operational handoff review activities
  • Accomplish the above tasks within allotted project timelines


Required Qualifications

  • Candidates should have at least 2 years of hands-on network engineering experience, preferably with a cable Multiple System Operator (MSO) or Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  • Experience in CPE Testing is required.
  • Candidates must have a thorough understanding of DOCSIS, PacketCable and provisioning, including TR069.
  • Experience with IP routing, IP multicast, streaming video, wireless, Voice over IP (VoIP), and/or home networking is desired.
  • Experience with automation, databases, scripting, and system administration is a plus.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate must be a team player, with an inherent ability to work well under tight timelines, and have strong problem solving capabilities.
  • Will be expected to work well with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
  • Proficient knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
  • Proficient knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
  • Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience

The pay for this position has a minimum of $76,800.00. The actual salary offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
