eBay is a global commerce leader that allows you to shape how the world buys, sells, and gives. You'll be part of a work culture that's been genuinely committed to diversity and inclusion since its founding more than 20 years ago. Here, you can just be yourself, do your best work, and have a meaningful impact on people across the globe. We are looking for people with drive, ideas, and a passion for helping small businesses succeed to help shape the future of eBay-does this sound like you? If so, we'd love to talk to you!

Overview of Role:

**Open to hiring multiple locations across the U.S. and will consider full time remote**

Working directly with the Chief Architect, you will be a senior technical individual contributor for eBay. Working with eBay's 3000 developers and across eBay's thousands of applications and services, you will help raise the bar on eBay's engineering practices and overall technical architecture. You'll work on hard problems, build high quality, modern systems that support and accelerate customer value. You can translate business needs into technology solutions working across organizations and roles. Your expertise is deep and broad; you are hands on, producing both detailed technical work and high-level architectural designs. You can work from the boiler room up to the boardroom

In this role you will:

  • Serve as a technical lead on our most fast paced, multi-functional projects, working alongside the Chief Architect.
  • Help drive software velocity and quality improvements across all of eBay engineering using Lean and DevOps approaches. If you are deeply familiar with Nicole Forsgren's Accelerate, as well as Gene Kim's The Phoenix Project and The Unicorn Project, you'll fit right in.
  • Improve business results by helping to evolve eBay's software and service architecture.
  • Collaborate effectively with product development and engineering teams across multiple domains and multiple geographies. Understand their needs, and work with them to propose solutions to help them do their jobs.
  • Get your hands dirty, write code, and ultimately deploy successful frameworks and systems that can be demonstrated for a broad set of business use cases across eBay.
  • Functionally deconstruct sophisticated problems into simple, straight-forward solutions that demonstrate significant creativity and high judgment.
  • Fully and completely understand system interdependencies, tradeoffs, and limitations.
  • Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering standard methodologies.
  • Demonstrate your knowledge of internal and industry prior art in design decisions.
  • Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on sophisticated technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.
  • Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.
