Job Description J.P. Morgan's Digital Investment Banking Technology team builds forward-looking, foundational technologies and core capabilities to enable the future of banking. Building novel consumer experiences and productivity products requires creative problem-solving skills that touch the entire spectrum of technology. From understanding Front End Technologies to being adept at building services at scale, this role will appeal to an individual who is fairly technical in nature.
As a leader in the Digital Investment Banking Technology organization and as our services engineering lead, you will lead a strong team of dedicated engineers. You'll drive the technical product vision, work closely with our cross-functional teams to define product requirements, build highly technical solutions, coordinate resources from other groups (design, legal, business users, etc.), and guide the team through key milestones. You'll also be responsible for identifying and tracking key performance metrics. We're looking for an exceptional team lead who has a strong interest in digital technologies, can think big and execute on that vision, and thrives on new challenges.
What You will be able to do for us:

  • Lead the ideation, strategy, technical development underpinning the digital products
  • Drive product development with multiple teams of world-class engineers, designers, and product specialists
  • Be hands-on with certifying integrity, quality of code and design
  • Provide clearly defined SLA/SLO/SLIs for the services you lead
  • Define and analyze metrics that inform the success of products
  • Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm
  • Detail-oriented coupled with the ability to show initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness
  • Passionate about building an innovative culture and developing talent
  • Need to be proficient in a variety of technical areas to effectively lead cross-functional teams


What we expect from you:

  • 7+ years in technical management experience
  • Experience managing delivery of at least 2 software products
  • Experience managing and overseeing multiple on-going initiatives simultaneously
  • Cross-functional communication and collaboration experience
  • Experience on Microservices architecture and domain driven design
  • Experience with cloud platforms, designs with native cloud products and automated deployment pipelines
  • Understands the request and response flow of multi-tiered architectures
  • Well versed with API-first approach
  • Expertise in root cause analysis
  • Well versed with
    • Systems design with an emphasis on data engineering, implications of data design patterns and services
    • Spring, Spring-boot, Hibernate, Java-8+, Java Annotations, Spring Configuration
    • High level components such as Elastic, Redis, Memcache, GemFire
    • Databases, both object relational such as Oracle, SQL Server; no-SQL such as MongoDB, DynamoDB
    • Messaging designs and platforms such as Kafka, UM
  • Natural leader and intellectually curious
  • Able to establish and leverage a network of peers to get things done
  • Builds an effective technology and engineering team
  • Ability to brainstorm multiple solutions to problems, applies innovations at scale, and is able to balance time to market with strategic designs
  • Maintains an effective controls environment
