We are currently looking for a Director, Software Engineering to join our Media Services Software Engineering & Operations team responsible for our converged media practice to deliver business and data insights across our broadcast, cable and OTT platforms, and transform an on-prem tech stack into a cloud enabled solution.

About You: 

  • You have experience in the Ad Tech community, in either the DSP/ SSP space or the traditional Linear TV/media advertising space. A bonus if you have an awareness of both
  • You have developed software for enterprise applications and have knowledge of the complete development lifecycle
  • You will preferably have first-hand coding experience in the recent past with knowledge of both front-end and back-end software stacks, cloud architecture and deployments
  • You possess excellent communications skills
  • You possess emotional intelligence to lead and connect to a diverse team of engineers
  • You have the proven ability to influence and lead by example

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead team(s) of talented Engineers - internal employees, and outsourced/offshore contractors.
  • Coordinate development resource allocation and priorities with Product and AMO counterparts
  • Provide technical oversight of high-level implementation plans for implementation of new technologies or architectural improvements.
  • Proactively mentor and train subordinates to continually improve services and support for Cadent
  • Possess knowledge about the business of Cadent, including the critical work processes and success factors of different units and functions
  • Transform Cadent technical strategies into plans and goals for the team(s) for the next 18 to 24 months, while empowering the team to maintain proper technical documentation
  • Be the primary point of contact for all technical and/or deployment questions and issues ensuring high quality software
  • Mobilize and encourage the team(s), establishing the specific plans, projects, and objectives needed to accomplish these goals and ensuring their attainment
  • Proactively look for opportunities for continual improvement of development strategies and processes
  • Participate in budget planning for their area and accountable for managing established budgets, including reallocating funding as priorities shift
  • Responsible for all performance-related activities, including preparing and delivering performance reviews and any disciplinary recommendations 
  • Partner with and integrate across other areas of Cadent, working with other teams, removing impediments, managing priorities to provide a complete solution
  • The role will possess business domain knowledge, including functional processes, business objectives, and organizational dynamics
  • This role will evangelize best practices in the technology domain and the technical+functional area, aligning with Cadent’s technical roadmap

 Your skills and education: 

  • Technical management and engineering lead experience 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to lead Scrum and/or other Agile development processes (experience with Scaled agile a plus)
  • DevOps / CI/CD Pipelines
  • Ability to lead an engineering team and development projects
  • Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to influence peers and collaborate across Cadent engineering, product and agile management office
  • Good understanding of computer science fundamentals in design pattern, problem solving, and complexity analysis 
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, especially around reliability, performance, and accessibility. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills 
  • 2+ years of software engineering management or tech lead experience
  • 7+ years software development experience
