Job Description

As a Director of Software Engineering CIB Technology - Digital Products, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery. As a leader in the Digital Investment Banking Technology organization and as our services engineering lead, you will lead a strong team of dedicated engineers. You'll drive the technical product vision, work closely with our cross-functional teams to define product requirements, build highly technical solutions, coordinate resources from other groups, guide the team through key milestones & identify/track performance metrics. We're looking for an exceptional team lead who has a strong interest in digital technologies, can think big and execute on that vision, and thrives on new challenges.
Job responsibilities

  • Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology & non-functional objectives
  • Accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions (certifying integrity and quality of code and design), control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations.
  • Provide clearly defined SLA/SLO/SLIs for the services you lead
  • Detail-oriented coupled with the ability to show initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness at the same time passionate about building an innovative culture and developing talent
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training, or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists & managing delivery of atleast 2 software products
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Experience on microservices architecture, domain driven design, cloud platforms, designs with native cloud products and automated deployment pipelines
  • Well versed with technologies such as: Spring, Spring-boot, Hibernate, Java-8+, Java Annotations, Spring Configuration, Elastic, Redis, Memcache, GemFire & both relational DBs (Eg. Oracle, SQL Server) & non-SQL DB (Eg. MongoDB, DynamoDB)
  • Maintains an effective controls environment
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Understands the request and response flow of multi-tiered architectures
  • Well versed with API-first approach
  • Expertise in root cause analysis
  • Systems design with an emphasis on data engineering, implications of data design patterns and services
