BCDC is looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the growth and integration of PayPal's crypto support additional commerce and payments capabilities, better support crypto-native merchants, and facilitate reporting for taxation and compliance needs globally. You will work with a cross-functional team and across multiple organizations to deliver secure, highly available, high throughput systems that realize the promise of cryptocurrencies and digital tokens to create a more effective, efficient, and inclusive way to perform commerce.

As a Director of Engineering in PayPal's Blockchain, Crypto, and Digital Currencies (BCDC) unit, you will help design and build a robust platform and technology infrastructure to support PayPal's existing cryptocurrency products, as well as drive new innovation in digital assets and tokens.

You will leverage your experience and expertise to design and build systems that further PayPal's goal of bringing accessibility and utility to the world of digital assets, including capabilities to bring additional commerce and payments capabilities to PayPal's digital asset platform, better support crypto-native merchants, and support reporting for taxation and compliance needs globally. You will work with a cross-functional team and across multiple organizations to deliver secure, highly available, high throughput systems that realize the promise of cryptocurrencies and digital tokens to create a more effective, efficient, and inclusive way to perform commerce.

Specific roles and responsibilities include:
* Developing high quality, high performance architectures and implementations for digital
assets infrastructure that balance high availability, scalability, and functionality with
rapid time to market
* Delivering core capabilities to allow merchants to leverage and integrate PayPal's digital asset platform to create new consumer and merchant
experiences
* Working with partners to integrate and extend digital asset functionality to address
PayPal's use cases and audiences
* Adapting PayPal's industry leading risk and fraud technologies to work with new forms
of digital tokens
* Ensuring that PayPal's digital asset systems meet the highest standards for security and
compliance
* Representing PayPal to external stakeholders including partners, customers, regulators, media,
research institutions and industry groups. Participating in the development of standards
and open-source solutions
* Leading discovery for use cases that can further PayPal's understanding of blockchain
and specific blockchain implementations
* Providing technical and thought leadership to product, engineering, and business leaders to further the development of an innovative, inclusive approach to digital assets

Qualifications
* Experience in the development of large-scale enterprise platforms and products from
conception to delivery
* Knowledge of and experience in creating highly available, highly secure systems that can
scale to accommodate thousands of transactions per second
* Knowledge of and experience with public cloud technologies and deployments
* Demonstrated knowledge depth in technologies and practices to protect users, systems,
and data.
* Demonstrated understanding of system development life cycle, dynamics of software
development programs, practices, and methods.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultural
environments, professional experience, and expertise
* Ability to estimate resourcing and costs, supporting business cases, and high-level
program plans
* Excellent organizational skills
* Payments and e-commerce experience is a plus
* Experience with blockchain protocols and technology is a plus
