LivePerson is investing into 24/7 resilience capabilities and is looking for a Director of Software Engineering to lead this initiative. Day-to-day, you'll be building a platform enabling LivePerson's development teams to validate high resiliency at enterprise scale. You'll be working with cutting-edge engineering tooling within the Chaos Engineering discipline and driving large change across a global engineering team. This is a great opportunity for a self-starter who loves getting into the details from conceptualization, technology choices, and realization of a new product. We are offering the chance to design and create a platform for chaos engineering, where your ideas have the potential to craft the direction of a new organization. 

Responsibilities:

  • Understand how distributed systems work and what makes them fail, especially at scale
  • Design, refine and reduce the ongoing costs of operational processes.
  • Own the adoption of non-functional testing across LivePerson's engineering organization
  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of engineers
  • Develop a plan and own the delivery of the resilience verification platform
  • Educate the broader engineering community of LivePerson to promote best practices
  • Develop a program to drive resilience improvements across other engineering teams
  • Define and report on key metrics
  • Evaluate tradeoffs and recommend the best path forward to senior leadership
  • Demonstrable experience building large scale distributed, fault-tolerant systems
    Proven experience with infrastructure provisioning on cloud providers such as GCP, AWS Azure or any other public cloud
    Experienced in container orchestration systems Kubernetes, Docker,  etc

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to hire, retain, and grow a high performing engineering team
  • Has created new products and proven experience driving adoption
  • Successfully delivered within a globally distributed and fully remote environment
  • Experienced evaluating architectures that scale with volume and are fault-tolerant
  • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions like Splunk, New Relic, Prometheus etc.
  • Experienced with non-functional testing of microservice architectures, including Chaos Testing, Synthetics Testing, and Stress Testing
  • Track record of shipping great software on time and on budget
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to adapt communication style to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent training or work experience.
  • 10-12+ years of experience leading software development teams
