Role Overview

Join our community! We are looking for an experienced leader that is as comfortable guiding and growing people as they are collaborating on building product. Partnering with leadership peers across other organizations, you will be responsible for managing the product engineering organization.

We’re looking for a strategic, effective, and empathetic Director of Engineering to join our team and report into our VP of Engineering. What You Will Do

• You will be directly working with the engineering managers and product managers that build product including our website, mobile app, and internal tools
• You will be essential in hiring the future of the Bungalow engineering team management layer
• You will have 4+ direct reports to start, that you regularly hold one-on-one meetings with
• You will mentor Bungalow engineering managers to build their career and professional skills, especially from a non-technical perspective
• You help the product & engineering team deal with resource contention and prioritization across work threads
• You collaborate and build effective relationships with our product managers as well as with other functions including business operations, design, marketing, growth, and recruiting

Who You Are

• You're people-driven first and foremost: motivated by the success of your team, excited to support the engineering managers and engineers on your team, and attuned to them as individuals
• You have a track record of delivering great software on a well-considered schedule
• You have been successful in a leadership role previously because it allowed you to work closely with others to help them meet their potential
• You have 4+ year of experience leading a team
• You have 5+ years of experience working with teams to develop systems for large-scale production environments
• Demonstrate experience owning, operating and supporting business critical systems that service a wide range of customers both internal and external
• You have experience building rapidly growing systems that balance time to market, usability, reliability, and technical debt
